A powerful and precision medium sized machine with 52 / 62 mm hole through the spindle available in bed lengths from 800 to 2,000 mm between centres. The spindle is mounted on precision taper roller bearings and has 16 speeds arrange in a geometric progression. It has a Norton gearbox for quick and easy selection of feeds and screw cutting pitches. Comev have immense experience, a highly skilled workforce and have produced in excess of 9,000 metal cutting lathes since they were founded in 1958. The machines are manufactured complete in Italy.
BED
The bed is very rigid with large ports for excellent swarf clearance. The bed ways are induction hardened and ground.
THE HEADSTOCK
It consists of a ribbed casting, which is tough and vibration proof, even under very demanding working conditions. Gearing enables the spindle to accomplish 16 speeds in geometric progression. All gears and spline shafts are made in Ni-Cr-Mo casehardened, tempered and ground steel. Its own pump provides lubrication. Spindle forward and reverse running are obtained by special clutch. The lathes are equipped with a failsafe electromagnetic brake for stopping the spindle.
THE SPINDLE
The spindle is made from a Ni-Cr-Mo steel casehardened, tempered and ground l; it is supported by precision taper roller bearings TIMKEN – SKF type. The spindle nose type is CAM-LOCK. ...
THE NORTON GEAR BOX
This is completely enclosed in an oil bath. Gears and shafts are made of resistant steel. The gearbox enables metric, UNC, Whitworth, modular, diametrical thread cutting , as well as a wide range of feed rates .
THE CARRIAGE
The carriage is well proportioned and runs on vee and flat ways which ensures stability under operational stress. The longitudinal, cross slide and top slide screws are mounted on thrust bearings. The nuts are of special bronze and incorporate mechanisms to eliminate backlash. The carriages and slides are all fitted with adjustable tapered gibs. T-slots allow attachment of accessories. Large index rings are easy to read and add to the versatility and precision of this equipment. A manual pump provides lubrication.
THE APRON
The main casting houses all the controls for longitudinal and cross feed traverse and for threading operations. A mechanical safety interlock prevents the threading and turning devices from being engaged at the same time. Large index rings allow easy progressive read-out; lubrication is provided by an oil bath.
ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT
The main motor unit is controlled by push buttons through a low voltage electrical circuit. All electrical equipment is manufactured according to the appropriate international standards.
THE TAILSTOCK
Heavy duty of good size and equipped with a barrel made with Ni-Cr casehardened, tempered and ground steel. The handwheel is equipped with large index ring for direct read-out of the movement.
